SPACEKATZ FAMILY-CENTRED ORGANIZATION
A Not for Profit operated by a collective group of artists and educators. All donations and fees from activities are invested into dojo operation & improvement.
WHAT WE DO
At SKdojo, we unite families & youth in one respect to help realize each other’s God-given gifts.
SPACEKATZ is a youth & family-centred collective based on Hip-Hop. Our mission is to facilitate creative, cultural and social activities in our community where children and youth can explore authentic Hip Hop dance, music and various arts.
We believe that these urban techniques and street arts will advocate a healthy, active lifestyle and empower confidence and inclusion in our community.
What we do strengthens the family unit and brings others closer together.
We believe this is needed now more than ever.

WHY IS IT UNIQUE?
Authenticity
Breaking is an ultimate expression of one’s body for physical and mental strength. Both on a community scale, Hip-hop culture originally was a tool for a creative outlet and for youth to redirect barriers and hardships to empowerment.
Unlike most dance schools where the lessons are heavily influenced by the commercial and mainstream take of the art forms. We focus on the original culture and the foundations of Hi-hop from the breaking eras of the 70s-2000s. We share an authentic taste of music, dance and values from the time.
The Mindset – We tend to encourage the trainees to develop an attitude to try, and give their best effort when learning and building self-discipline. No matter what one’s situation may be, we believe that this display of mental strength will help one surpass many challenges in life.
Small Group & Space
Our workshops create an inclusive space where no learners feel left behind or isolated; the small group training will typically help you see results quicker than working out in big groups or on your own. Today we observe that the new generation has less coping skills when things get difficult and often give up before trying. We embrace that all growth comes from discomfort and the ability to push through. Both the group and the Mentor will hold each other accountable.
At each session we introduce body-weight exercises to build strength, flexibility, mobility and the coordination needed to perform breaking moves. We encourage the trainees to practice the techniques them in their own time & space, outside of other extracurricular activities. There is no special equipment required. Running shoes, and the proper gear(Tshirt, long-sleeve, pants). We challenge each participant to control one’s body and movement to master spatial awareness in a small quarter spaces. This will benefit the performer in a real life cypher, battle or on stage.
It is different from an ordinary classroom or any type of regular dance class. We aim to grow as individuals and as a group.
Unique Philosophy of Teaching in Art & fitness
Although, the breaking classes in the city are taught by great dancers, most are not experienced teachers, and vice versa.
Our lessons are taught and facilitated by Registered Educator, personal trainer who are also experienced Artists. The Mentor, Rule7 has developed best practice associated with human development drawing from experience teaching in variety of contexts in educational institutions, youth facilities and programming. It is highly responsive to the needs and experiences of communities and able to guide the learner’s journey and pursuit as a life-long skill.
R7 METHODS
"“The future doesn’t need copies, it needs individuals. One of the best things you can do for yourself is to be unique & remain that way. Everybody is a different perspective of what it means to live. "
